passionista-sista

This is my Etsy and BrisStyle shop name and that's me being walked by the dog:
I will save that story for another time.

How is your walk through life going? not in the general sense ~ i mean your handmade life. for me its becoming increasingly clear that when i spot an item, food or clothing which has been blessed with the kiss of life that handmade things embody ~ i simply must support the maker. i adore the moment when i am handing my hard earned cash to a fellow independent passionista-sista. for me, embracing a handmade lifestyle - whether as a maker or a supporter - contributes to our community socially, culturally and environmentally. what about you?

Lovely Lesbian

ok so i my efforts to be a 'regular blogger' are way off course! from now on i will endeavour to post at least twice per week + i promise a photo or two. really my main motivation for starting this space is to link with other lovely lesbians who are in the market for a few fellow makers to hang with. after participating in the wonderful 'brisstyle twilight markets' on friday night in king george square and then the 'young designers market' on sunday my creative juices have renewed passion and hope. i did lose it for a while there.... such a rarity for me, but when it comes to matters of the heart apparently there is much work for me to undertake in that department.

so (just to reiterate) my quest to establish a place for creative brisland ladies to have a chat, a cuppa, a bit of show and tell plus even a session of making is in sight. soon to be announced... the first ever 'hang'.

stay tuned for my sporadic notes.

WELCOME TO HANDMADE HUSSYS

As a (single) lesbian who likes to make things I am looking for some like minded souls. I figure I am not the only one – well I hope not. I have always been a ‘maker’. By this I mean from the time I could hold a needle, I was sewing. Furiously. Infact I sewed through primary school, high school and uni – I think that’s why I am a lesbian – I forgot to kiss the boys like the other girls did. Instead I was busy making things.

These days I am still fascinated by the beauty of something which is made with another persons hands, passion and sheer will. Myself, I am a feltmaker. A paper maker. And then I also like to recycle clothes and sheets to make quirky kind of cards – I call them ‘cards to keep’. I sell my bits and bobs around the place. I would really like to share the space in between. My etsy shop is called ‘insulate’.
